Those we help

Each year, more than 1,900 young people benefit from the Foundation’s services. These are boys and girls aged between 0 and 18, who need legal protection and receive services from the Laval Child and Youth Protection Center.

“ These children have all experienced difficult life events along their journey that have marked their development. ”

Many of them have been victims of abandonment, neglect, physical or sexual violence, or psychological abuse.

They experience delays in physical, psychological and cognitive development, learning difficulties, academic setbacks and failures, mental health issues, attachment disorders and significant anxiety, as well as problems with addiction to alcohol, drugs, or gambling. This often leads to a lack of self-esteem, difficulties in socialization, a tendency to isolate themselves, a deep mistrust of adults, tendencies toward self-destruct and marginalization, and marked difficulties in adapting to and integrating with their peers.
